About the Programme

Fenland and East Cambs is an area where low academic achievement and low expectations are common features, especially for those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The challenges young people face stem from:

  • Rural isolation
  • Poor transport links
  • Weak job market

To improve outcomes for these young people, the priority area programme was designed to promote:

  • The sharing of best practice
  • Research-driven planning
  • Lasting capacity
